Siyabonga Sibiya better known to music lovers as Marioza was born and raised in Mandeni (KZN) but now based in Kwa-Mashu, One of Durban’s very own township.
Marioza has been a passionate music fan from an early age, and growing up He listened to a lot of rap music throughout his teenage years. He got into hip hop in 2004 through his uncle who played tapes of Canibus, KRS One, 2pac , Immortal technique , Dr dre, Eminem and Biggie. That’s when He, at the age of 14, started putting pen on the page and design his own rhymes. He single-handedly started the ciphers at Kay Cap( Kaffie) hosted by Nandi (EKhaya Mult art Centre) in Kwa Mashu township. Among artists that participated, namely Lacosteration, Zakwe , Abakhinqizi Bemisho,Magic flows & Izidlamlilo , These ciphers would go on every saturday for over a year with Marioza never missing a single session. The victimizer went into the studio in 2007 for the first time to start recording his rhymes,
started recording using reggae beats, up until He met this guy called “Cool Fire” who introduced him to the world of art. He began a part of the organization called” Youth At work” which was managed by Cool Fire as a co-founder, that’s where Marioza decided to focus on his music career.
The organization was deals with Poetry, craft work, drama & music.
Marioza from there He became an actor , He was playing a character called Gagasi and the name of the play was the Egg “iqanda” which was written by Cool fire,the play went all over KZN in places like Kwasuka theater , Cool ruining’s, Bat centre & Ekhaya Mult art centre and Durban Play House.
In 2010 Marioza decided to drop a mixtape titled” The Victimizer Vol 1 ” featuring Hip Hop-One, Cik’Kidio, Yzee , Caterstraphe ,Style and influence
The innovative rap style of Marioza revolves around raw hip hop with jazz, electric bass & kasi vinlys elements to it, but easy to digest for everyone to listen.
“The single track “Khanda skenqeza” will be featured on the soundtrack compilation that will be released commercially made it possible by Mad Muzician wear clothing label.
